Barbara Hanel studied Economics at the University of Bonn and the University of Cologne and graduated in summer 2005. She then joined the chair of Prof. Regina Riphahn, Ph.D. at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg as a PhD student and research assistant. She received her PhD for her dissertation on “Financial Incentives and the Timing of Retirement” in May 2010. Since August 2010 she works at the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economics and Social Research as a Research Fellow in Labour Economics and Social Policy Program.
